Our Services

Expert diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries.

At Optimal Performance Clinic, we specialize in diagnosing and treating the root cause of musculoskeletal injuries and pain.

Our clinicians have worked within professional sport, national teams, and elite athletic environments, where accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and structured rehabilitation are essential. In high-performance sport there is no time to guess or experiment with care—athletes must return to training and competition safely and efficiently.

That same standard of care is applied to every patient we see.

Whether you are a competitive athlete, a recreational runner, an active adult, or someone experiencing back pain, joint pain, or stiffness from everyday activities such as work or sitting at a desk, our approach remains the same:

Accurate diagnosis. Targeted treatment. Structured rehabilitation.

By combining expert assessment, hands-on care, and progressive rehabilitation strategies, we help patients in Vancouver and Burnaby recover from injury, restore movement, and return to the activities that matter most.

Musculoskeletal injury diagnosis & treatment

Successful recovery begins with a clear diagnosis.

At Optimal Performance Clinic, every patient undergoes a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment designed to identify the underlying cause of pain or injury. Our clinicians evaluate joint mechanics, muscle function, movement patterns, and tissue loading to determine why symptoms developed.

As part of every new patient assessment, we perform detailed movement analysis to evaluate how joints and muscles work together during functional tasks. This helps identify movement patterns that may be contributing to pain, injury, or inefficient mechanics.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, our goal is to identify and treat the true mechanical cause of musculoskeletal injury.

Treatment may include manual therapy, soft tissue treatment, movement correction, and progressive rehabilitation strategies tailored to the individual.

Common conditions we assess and treat include:
  • Back pain and spinal conditions
  • Knee pain and lower limb injuries
  • Shoulder injuries and rotator cuff dysfunction
  • Hip and pelvic pain
  • Ankle and Foot pain
  • Tendon injuries and tendinopathy
  • Recurring sports injuries
  • Nerve pain such as sciatica and carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Persistent musculoskeletal pain related to work or daily activity

Sports & Activity Injuries

Sport and training place unique demands on the body. When those demands exceed the body’s ability to adapt, injury can occur.

Our clinicians provide evidence-based sports injury treatment for athletes at all levels—from recreational athletes and runners to national team competitors.

The focus of treatment is to identify the factors contributing to the injury and restore the strength, mobility, and movement patterns required for safe return to activity.

Treatment typically combines hands-on care with structured rehabilitation to reduce the risk of recurring injury.

Rehabilitation & Return To Activity

Rehabilitation is the foundation of long-term recovery from musculoskeletal injury.

At Optimal Performance Clinic, rehabilitation programs are designed to restore strength, improve movement efficiency, and progressively return the body to full activity.

Programs are individualized and may include progressive strength development, tendon and tissue loading strategies, movement retraining, return-to-running progressions, and sport-specific rehabilitation planning.

This structured approach helps patients recover fully while significantly reducing the likelihood of recurring injury.

Our goal is not simply symptom relief, but helping patients develop a stronger and more resilient body capable of handling the demands of sport, work, and everyday life.

Running Gait Analysis

Running injuries are often related to stride mechanics, loading patterns, or training progression.

Our running gait analysis is a dedicated assessment designed for runners who are experiencing pain, recurring injuries, or looking to improve running efficiency and injury prevention.

Using video analysis and biomechanical assessment, our clinicians evaluate stride mechanics, cadence, loading patterns, and movement efficiency during running.

Understanding how the body moves during running allows us to develop targeted treatment and rehabilitation strategies that improve both performance and durability.

Running gait analysis can be helpful for:
  • Achilles tendon pain
  • Shin splints
  • Runner’s knee
  • Recurring lower limb injuries
  • Running performance improvement
  • Injury prevention for runners

Performance Therapy

Performance therapy is designed for individuals who want to maintain optimal movement, prevent injuries, and continue performing at a high level.

This proactive approach combines manual therapy, movement optimization, and targeted rehabilitation strategies to support ongoing training and activity demands.

Performance therapy is commonly used by competitive athletes, endurance athletes, strength athletes, and highly active individuals.

Rather than waiting for injury to occur, performance therapy focuses on maintaining tissue health, optimizing movement quality, and supporting long-term athletic performance.

This model of care reflects the same proactive strategies used in professional sport environments.

Post-breast cancer recovery & scar tissue therapy

Breast cancer treatment can lead to lasting changes in tissue mobility, posture, and shoulder function.

Surgery and radiation often result in scar tissue restriction, chest wall tightness, shoulder stiffness, axillary web syndrome (cording), and lymphatic congestion that can affect everyday movement and comfort.

Our clinicians provide specialized treatment to help restore mobility and improve function following breast cancer treatment.

Some patients may also benefit from specialized soft tissue treatment approaches such as Active Release Techniques (ART), which can help address soft tissue restrictions that develop following surgery or radiation. Techniques such as ART are designed to improve tissue mobility and reduce adhesions within muscles and surrounding connective tissue. When appropriate, these approaches may assist with improving mobility associated with post-surgical scarring and conditions such as axillary web syndrome (cording), while supporting overall movement restoration during rehabilitation.

Many individuals recovering from breast cancer find it difficult to access care that addresses the physical changes following surgery and treatment. The founder of Optimal Performance Clinic is herself a breast cancer survivor who navigated recovery following a double mastectomy. That personal experience, combined with extensive clinical expertise in musculoskeletal care and rehabilitation, has strengthened the clinic’s commitment to supporting individuals through recovery and helping them restore movement, rebuild strength, and achieve optimal function following treatment.
